Modest Mouse

People always front about distinguishing between "old" and "new" M.M.. Sure, Isaac's lyrics have toned down a bit with big publishing, but Marr's guitar more than makes up for that combined with their old sound. It's not like Isaac's lyrics have become awful either, in some sense I think the pressure to be a little less inflammatory has caused him to write more succinctly, as evidenced by another lyric I will lift here:

People as Places as People
--------------------------------------------
To answer a question
It'll probably take more
If you're already there
Well then you probably don't know
Well we were the people
That we wanted to know
And we were the places that we wanted to go
It's hard to get hold of
And hard to let go
Always something we look for
From the day we were born
Instead we're the people that we wanted to know
And we were the places that we wanted to go
Yeah we're the places that we wanted to go
We're the places that we wanted to go

And so on. It's really good, and quite fitting!

Yours Truly.
